Concrete pipes are either pressed or casted in molds.
In pressed pipes, the water content is low, in casted pipes high.
Depending on the manufacturing process, either the dry cast pipes or wet cast molds are set in place to harden and then covered with tarps or tents. Dry cast pipes should be prevented from drying out to eliminate cracking.
Here the use of steam has been proven to be most effective. Firstly because of the high moisture content of steam for pressed pipes and secondly because of the efficient heat transfer (in steel molds).
